Key concepts – Phytotherapy

The term “phytotherapy” comes from the Greek and means “healing with plants”. The practice has been commonly used for thousands of years and is now considered to be a recognised natural science. Using modern techniques, plant compounds can now be accurately identified and their therapeutic effects, complementary or synergistic, are well established.

The therapeutic properties of any plant depend on the quality of the plant, the active ingredients it contains and the processes used to extract these compounds.
